It is in no way true that indie games are nothing great; more so, it is a niche where creativity has no limit and is not bound by any rules or conditions. In recent years, it has been proven that this particular sub-genre in the gaming scene is only going to get better and better with titles such as "Stardew Valley," "Minecraft," "Don't Starve," and "Terraria," among the many independent titles that, up to this day, is continuously flourishing and amassing millions of players.

Another game, which is vying for a spot in the indie hall of fame is Team17 and Planet Alpha ApS' hybrid-platformer "Planet Alpha." In the most recent announcement, publisher Team17 has confirmed that the game will be seeing a release on major gaming platforms late this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and on the Nintendo Switch.

In line with this announcement, the company also treated fans to a preview of the upcoming game complete with all the things players are set to experience once they get their paws on the game.

Since 2013, the game has been in development courtesy of Adrian Lazar, creative director and co-founder of game developer Planet Alpha ApS. He said that the game has undergone many alterations gameplay-wise. On top of this, the game's namesake has also undertaken changes in that four years.

"I started developing the game in my spare time four years ago, but many things have changed since then: we are now a small — but ambitious! — team, the game swapped its name a couple of times, and even the gameplay went through a few iterations," the director revealed.

Alazar revealed that despite the changes, they continued to persevere in order to create an "immersive," 'living world' that would best represent them and is something that will affect players on an emotional level.

"But what stayed the same from the beginning was this desire to create an immersive, living world that would awe, scare and intrigue at the same time. An unexplored alien planet is the perfect canvas for this so we let our imagination flow," he shared.

Despite this confirmation, Team17 has yet to issue a specific launch date for the puzzle title, they only indicated that the game will be released sometime in the third quarter of 2018.

In "Planet Alpha," players will navigate an aesthetically striking alien world gifted with exceptionally diverse living beings. As users explore the atmospheric environment, they will be armed with the power to control the planet's gravity, altering its rotation to suit specific strategies.

Once it drops, "Planet Alpha" will be readily available for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. As of present time, details about pricing has not been revealed.
