It has been two years since the second game for "Plants vs. Zombies" came out. What started out to be a simple game turned out to be huge for developers PopCap, under Electronic Arts (EA). Now fans are clamoring for a third game for the simple yet addicting zombie shooter. Fortunately enough, it looks like a "Plants vs. Zombies 3" might happen soon.

The news for this new game first came about in a comic book about the "Plants vs. Zombies" franchise itself. Although nobody knows whether it was intentional or not, a reference was made to a game that has not been released, which is presumably the third game in the franchise.

To be more specific, the reference was not made in the comic book itself but to its listing on Amazon UK. According to the listing, the description of the comic book notes that it "will bridge between video games PvZ: GW2 and PvZ: GW3." While many fans would know the former, the latter is quite intriguing.

With that being said, fans can easily assume that a "Plants vs Zombies 3: Garden Warfare 3" — because "GW" also means "Garden Warfare" in "PvZ: GW2" — could come out in the near future. It could be released either during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) or maybe during pre-E3 for their EA Play which they have announced just recently.

The "Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare" games first started back in 2014, just a year after the original "Plants vs. Zombies 2." "Garden Warfare 2" was released two years later so if fans were to follow a pattern, "Garden Warfare 3" should come out this year, since it has been two years since the last game.

For now, EA has yet to make an official announcement about the possible "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 3." If it is indeed coming this June, then an announcement should be available soon.
