"Plants vs. Zombies 2" just got revived by its developers, as a new feature has been planted into the four-year-old game that should make it grow in popularity again.

Developer PopCap and publisher Electronic Arts (EA) have announced that they just implemented a new mode for "Plants vs. Zombies 2," making it more competitive for all players. This said mode is called "Battlez" and is aimed at making players compete with one another in the popular and colorful tower-defense game. Essentially, the new feature is a player-versus-player (PVP) mode for the popular strategy game.

Battlez sees players comparing each other's high scores, though players will not exactly fight with one another directly, rather, they will both be playing an identical session at the same time and try to outscore each other. Of course, the one with the higher score wins and the mode looks to be the standard zombie wave attack that a lot of people are familiar with.

This means that the Battlez mode is more of a battle of strategies and planning, since whoever kills zombies earlier and faster wins the match. This is shown by the score zones indicated by different colored banners at the bottom of the screen where the further the zombies are killed from the players' house, the higher the score will be. The results will then be shown after a match along with which plants each player used so that the losing side can imitate the strategy and plant choices of the winner.

Of course, players are still given a chance to take control of their victories during the match since there is also a player score gauge at the top of the display that shows who among the two players is winning. The losing side can make certain tactical adjustments in order to turn the tide of battle.

As usual in competitive aspects of games, more wins equate to more rewards, and the developer promise better and more satisfying rewards as players stack up to their victories. Battlez mode is now available in "Plants vs. Zombies 2" and can be downloaded as an update to the mobile game.
