'Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2' release date news and gameplay preview

A new trailer for "Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" was unveiled as part of Microsoft's media presentation during the recently concluded E3 event. The game kicks off by introducing the players to Zomburbia, formerly known as Suburbia but was overran by zombies and thus, the name change. Contrary to the prior set up of plants defending and zombies attacking, this time around, plants will be the ones on the offensive while zombies try to defend their newly conquered territory.

Electronic Arts (EA) also held its own media presentation for "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2", in which the publishing company released a gameplay video for the multiplayer third-person shooter and tower defense game. EA announced that the unlocked characters on the game's predecessor, "Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare", will get carried over to the coming sequel. According to the game's official portal, along with over a hundred playable plants and zombies, comes 12 fresh battlegrounds, which can be expected to deliver humor, action and are riddled with secrets. PVZGW2 will provide the solo player option, as well as the local co-op using split screens.

Going online, players get the option of playing the all-new 24-player Herbal Assault mode or the 4-player co-op in Graveyard Ops.

The website also announced that there will be 14 total classes. Details on the 6 new classes were released; three for the zombies and three for plants. The zombies will get Imp and Z-Mech, which comes with dual shooters, Captain Dreadbeard functions as the new sniper class and Super Brainz, which has the cool energy blasts. On the other hand, the plants will be getting Citron, Rose and Kernel Corn. The three new plant classes' abilities are yet to be announced.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will be released in April 2016 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
