'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' continues fight against cheaters with new detection measures
In the past several months, "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" (PUBG) has become one of the most popular games today. However, with the skyrocketing of its number of players, the number of cheaters who illegally implement unfair advantages in the game have also risen. With this in mind, the game developer has planned new steps to fight and eliminate cheaters in the game.
In a post on the title's Steam page, the PUBG Development and Community Team acknowledged the problem and apologized to the players. "We would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the cheaters and we are sorry that you have not been able to enjoy PUBG in a safe and fair environment," said the team. "Our development team is doing their best to detect and ban those who use cheats in a more proactive manner."
The team shared that they would be adopting new tools to quickly identify players who are employing third party equipment to gain unfair advantage.
The new tools will allow the team to detect and verify users with unusual gameplay patterns. If there is an unusual pattern detected in an account, it will be "temporarily suspended and investigated." Accounts that are found to have been cheating will be permanently banned from the game.
While the team expressed their hope to effectively curb cheating in a speedy manner, they acknowledged that the fight will not be a short one. "We will continue our research and development to establish a better system for combatting cheaters. We will take stronger actions to find and ban cheaters, while at the same time taking good care to not harm innocent players," added the team.
Earlier this week, the game released new test servers equipped with new measures to detect cheating. The team urged players to test the new servers and report any bugs that they observed.
