It is no secret that "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds," or "PUBG" as it is more commonly called, is one of the biggest successes of 2017. It became the most played game on Steam and sold millions of copies throughout the year. Yet, despite the success, the developers are still looking into changing up aspects of the game so that it does not grow stale and, in a recent update, the "PUBG" team announced plans for rebalancing the deadly blue zone.

For those that might be unfamiliar, the blue zone is a mechanic in "PUBG" that essentially prevents players from camping in one spot and, over time, bring all surviving players into one central location. It is basically a blue border that grows smaller over time and continuously damages players that are outside of it.

In the team's post, they stated that they have been doing some internal tests with regard to the blue zone's numbers based on player feedback. Now, they are planning to push these changes to the test servers to get even more player reception on the changes.

Some of the changes they plan to implement includes decreasing the amount of time it takes for a blue zone to start shrinking during the later portions of a match. To compensate for the shorter amount of time between intervals, they are also considering slowing down just how fast the zone moves. Finally, they plan on increasing how much damage players will take within the blue zone, to further encourage players to keep moving.

While it is still uncertain if these changes will make it to the live servers, such indicate that the team is planning to continue changing the nature of the game to keep it exciting and fresh for players.

In addition to these changes, they also announced that they have discovered a new pattern of cheats in the game. Thanks to a review of millions of data logs, they were able to identify over 100,000 instances of the new pattern and will be permanently banning all the players found to be using the cheat.

Cheating is possibly the biggest issue that is marring "PUBG" right now and the team have been very adamant in their goal to eradicate it from the game. Earlier this month, they released an updated user report process to encourage legitimate players to find and report anyone that they think might be using hacks and third party systems to cheat in the game.
