"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" will not be getting a single-player game mode anytime soon.

Ever since its release, "PUBG" has only continued to grow and the popularity of the multiplayer shooter has led fans to wonder if the developers ever considered creating a single-player campaign for their beloved game. A handful of questions were answered in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) Reddit discussion with the creator of "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds," Brendan Greene.

During the AMA, Greene revealed he wanted to explore some of the game's lore. This was brought up again at PAX AUS 2017 when he spoke to GameSpot.

Unfortunately, Greene revealed that a single-player campaign is not going to happen. On the off chance that it did, it wouldn't be anytime soon.

Greene said that he has been working on the game's lore and that the lore itself was what lead to his ideas for a single-player campaign. However, Greene mentioned that he just doesn't have the resources or the time to add a single-player campaign to the mix. He ended by stating that there were indeed no plans at all.

Greene might have said no to a single-player campaign, but he and his team have been working on something for the PC and Xbox One. The "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" team hopes to allow crossplay between the two different consoles.

"It's something we're looking into, but right now we don't have anything to say about it," he said. Actually pulling it off would require a lot of work on the team's part.

"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" is a multiplayer battle royale that came out earlier this year. The game received some negative ratings due to cheaters and criticisms of gameplay mechanics, but it has sold millions of copies and has captured the hearts of shooting game fans everywhere.

The developers hope to release the Xbox version of the game before the end of 2017.
