The current list for the PlayStation Plus program includes triple-A classics like "Yakuza 5" and "Patapon 3." However, some fans are getting impatient, saying that Sony has yet to come out with a satisfying list containing at least one major franchise title.

At the start of the month, members of the PS Plus program for the Sony systems have gotten new games under the monthly PS Plus free downloads. One of the titles is "Yakuza 5," the classic open-world adventure sequel to the Sega franchise. Released in 2012, the follow-up is exclusively made for the PlayStation 3.

Aside from "Yakuza 5," fans of the older-gen PS3 can also get "Retro/Grade," a music-based reverse-shooter from 24 Caret Games.

Meanwhile, the current-gen PS4 also gets its share of free games, since the list contains "Tricky Towers," a physics-based puzzle game from WeirdBeard Games that pits two to four players in either local or online multiplayer battles in tower stacking. In addition, another free game for the PS4 is a combat RPG, "Rebel Galaxy."

A cross-platform title is also included in the list, as "Ultratron" is made available for free for the PS3 and PS Vita. Meanwhile, another game for the handheld system is rhythm side-scroller "Patapon 3."

Although the current list is a mix of classic and exclusive titles, some fans are not content with how Sony releases the monthly free games list for the PS Plus. Prior to the games going live, there are already negative feedbacks for the list, with some of the hardcore subscription members comparing the monthly program with its rival, the Games with Gold feature for the Microsoft Xbox One. Aside from releasing major franchise classics in the program, Microsoft has also integrated the free games download with the backwards compatibility feature, so Xbox One players can also download and play Xbox 360 games for free.
