'Pokemon Sun and Moon' release date update: early purchases get special edition Snorlax
It is confirmed that early purchasers of the upcoming "Pokémon Sun and Moon" game will get a bonus -- a special version of Munchlax.
Getting closer to its release, it is revealed that early purchases – from launch until Jan. 11, 2017 – of the new "Pokémon Sun and Moon" game will have players get a special edition Munchlax. The bonus Pokémon comes with a new Snorlium Z item. Evolving Munchlax into Snorlax and giving the Pokémon the Snorlium item will unlock a new unique Z-move called Pulverizing Pancake. The name itself is a dead give-away – the move has Snorlax using its massive size – "It's not satisfied unless it eats in excess of 880 pounds of food every day," reads its official description – to flatten enemies like a pancake.
In addition, this special evolved form for Munchlax is also capable of learning Hold Back, a move that instantly drops its opponent's HP down to 1. There is also the normal Happy Hour skill, getting Snorlax twice the money rewards when it wins in a trainer battle.
Aside from the special Snorlax evolution, it is also confirmed that Rattata will also have an Alola form. The new evolved form takes the shape of Alolan Rattata. In its description, the new form is said to be "nocturnal and live in nests of several dozen." In addition, "Alolan Rattata have an excellent aptitude for sniffing out delicious fresh foods in Alola. They pay no attention to foods that aren't fresh. Alolan Raticate serve as their boss."
The Alolan forms are unique to "Pokémon Sun and Moon," which is based on the new Alolan regions in the game. Depending on the locations, each regular Pokémon will be affected during evolution, leading to their Alolan forms.
"Pokémon Sun and Moon" will be released for the Nintendo 3Ds on Nov. 18.
