'Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby' update: Ancient Devolutions coming in remakes?

New details on the upcoming remake of "Pokemon Alpha Sapphire" and "Pokemon Omega Ruby" emerged online.

Japanese magazine CoroCoro provided exciting information about the remakes. The publication revealed that mega evolutions will be coming to the 3DS titles. According to the source, Treecko's mega evolution is Mega Sceptile, which is a Dragon/Grass type Pokemon and will have "Lightning Rod" ability. Mudkip's mega evolution is Mega Swampert and will pack the ability called "Swift Swim".

Meanwhile, Groudon and Kyogre will also have new mega evolutions, but the characters will transform to their ancient devolutions, which remained to be a mystery. The reports claimed that this is still unconfirmed and could be a product of poor translation.

However, the new transformations of the two pokemons could bear prehistoric relevance, which is hinted in the box art illustrations that are slightly different from the usual. The term "Ancient Devolution" also refers to ancient history that hinted about large animals like dinosaurs and megalodons. However, evolution and adaptation forced animals to be smaller to enable them to survive. A theory emerged that "ancient devolution" would mean that the pokemon will return to its huge prehistoric form.

The remakes of the Pokemon game will herald in new changes to the overall Pokemon battle. The game may not be coming in full 3D just like the Pokemon X and Y, but this does not mean the CG graphics. The new Nintendo game will skip the stereoscopic (glasses-free) 3D effect that Pokemon games usually use.

"Pokemon Alpha Sapphire" and "Pokemon Omega Ruby" are reported to be released in November. Nintendo is rumored to reveal more information about the game at E3 2014 event kicking off on June 10. Rumor has it that the upcoming Pokemon game will have an SRP of $39.99, with free shipping. There is no work yet whether there will be preorder bonuses. Fans will have to wait and see.
