The "Pokemon GO" Easter event, which had been rumored for several weeks, has now gone live. "Pokemon GO" has just kickstarted its latest event called Eggstravaganza and, as expected, it's all about eggs.

From April 13 to 20, players will have to get out and go on a Pokemon Egg hunt. According to the latest community update posted on Pokemon GO Live, two-kilometer Eggs, which are the most common ones to find and contain less impressive monsters, will now produce a wider variety of Pokemon all throughout the event. Some are saying that there is a possibility that rare types could be hatched from these eggs too. Plus, trainers will get to earn more Candy for every Egg they hatch.

During the Easter event, all trainers will earn double XP, helping everyone to level up faster. When the double XP is combined with a Lucky Egg, trainers can even gain up to four times the normal XP, which means this is definitely the best time to catch up for those who have been having a hard time leveling up. To top it all off, Lucky Eggs can be bought at the in-game shop for half its price all throughout the Eggstravaganza to maximize the XP increase.

According to Forbes, "Pokemon GO" may not be as popular now as it was during its first few months of release, but it "retains a massive userbase that has a way of activating when events like this one hit."

Eggstravaganza is the first major event in the game since last month's Water Festival, which introduced the first of many Shiny Pokemon, Magikarp. Even though there's no mention of Shinies in this week's Easter event, trainers are hoping that it's one of the surprises in this Easter egg hunt.

"Pokemon GO" Eggstravaganza started on April 13 at 4 p.m. EDT and will end on April 20 at 4 p.m. EDT.
