According to rumors, supposed data-mined details for the upcoming update have revealed that part of the "Gen 2" update is the introduction of Legendary creatures in "Pokémon GO." Reportedly, the first round of the update will unlock the first set of Legendary Pokémon. When the update goes live, players will get the chance to check out and capture the original Legendaries like Mew and Mewtwo, along with Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.

The Bitbag reports that some players have supposedly captured Articuno. Developer Niantic has hinted that the update may have been inadvertently leaked, as it stated, "We recently notice that a few Legendary Pokemon got into few accounts when they shouldn't have. To preserve the game's integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokemon from the Trainers' accounts."
