As Halloween is drawing near, developers are preparing for the occasion as well. Few details had been given by the developers of "Pokemon Go," but days before the launch, Apple leaks had fans speculating of possible new characters. Now, following the release of the Halloween event, the leaks were confirmed.

The 2017 Halloween event for "Pokemon Go" was launched on Oct. 20, 3 p.m. EDT and would end on Nov. 2 at 4 p.m. EDT. As it turned out, the leaked Gen 3 characters were included in the event, as well as others like Cubone, Misdreavus, and, Hondour. The player's avatar will also get the chance to wear the Mimikyu's Disguise Hat.

Just like last year, players also have the chance to go "trick or treating," as the Pokemon Candy is doubled upon catching or hatching Pokemon during this event. Aside from this, players are given the opportunity to get boxes that contain special items from the shop.

In the days leading to the launch, the first leak, as reported by Eurogamer, saw third generation, ghostly-looking pocket monsters from the iOS App Store. Some of the Pokemon that were on the advertisement were the Gen 3 Dusclops, Shuppet, and Banette. Gengar was notably placed in the middle of the group as well. In the second leaked artwork, Pikachu was seen sporting a witch hat, an appropriate and timely costume for the yellow monster given the occasion.

These arguably unintentional hints from Apple teased what was in store for the game in the Halloween. Alas, the leaks had been proven to be true.

Last year's Halloween event was held from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1. The event had some appearance from some of the pocket monsters that include Gastly, Haunter, Hypno, Zubat, and Drowzee. "Pokemon Go" is an alternative reality game developed by Niantic where players catch Pokemon and use them to battle other players. The game was first released in 2016.
