Niantic has been unrelentingly updating their popular augmented reality mobile video game, "Pokémon Go," with several new updates and patches for the past few weeks. The company's efforts seem to be aimed at reigniting the hype for the game once again and to perhaps entice new players into their game.

The player base for the game has continually been declining ever since its initial hype and the instances of people walking around catching Pokémon is now slowly becoming a rare sight. However, with new updates, features, and perhaps the addition of brand new Pokémon, retired Pokémon trainers might once again jump at the chance of becoming the best Pokémon master around.

Niantic recently released several updates that saw changes to several Pokémon CPs and the addition of a brand new Pokémon, Ditto. Along with the new Pokémon and game changes, the company has also recently held a real world event called the "Thank You" event which ran from Nov. 23 to Nov. 30. The event itself gave its loyal players double XP and stardust which allow for faster leveling and Pokémon evolutions.

With the influx of new updates, reports have predicted that it might be just a matter of time before Niantic finally releases the long-awaited new generation Pokémon and perhaps also make legendary Pokémon available within the game. Reports have revealed that Niantic may in fact be preparing for a big December update which could include the new Pokémon as well as new features such as trading and PvP battles. The company's CMO, Mike Quigley, recently confirmed in an interview that their developers are indeed preparing for new events in the coming months, but unfortunately, they aren't going to reveal any of it just yet.

The company has also yet to confirm any of the reports regarding Gen 2 Pokémon and new features, but seeing as that the game severely needs a bump in sales and its player base, all of the aforementioned additions are definitely a possibility.
