"Pokemon GO's" latest event called the Global Catch Challenge compelled players to catch 500 million pocket monsters in less than two days.

Niantic's global event was launched on Sunday to reward loyal fans around the world as well as bring in new players to the growing world of "Pokemon GO." Incredibly, players everywhere were able to rack up half a billion pocket monsters in less than two days following the launch.

According to the promotion, the Bronze tier of 500 million catches will reward those with double the experience points (XP) and a 6-hour timer on Pokemon-attracting incense. The Silver tier of 1.5 billion catches will throw in double stardust for the players. However, the main reward which everyone wants to get is the Gold tier which requires players to garner three billion catches.

With the Gold level, aside from the double XP, Pokemon-attracting incense, and double stardust, players will also get to unlock highly-coveted regional pocket monsters namely Farfetch'd and Kangaskhan. The former will be available worldwide for 48 hours when the top milestone is reached. The latter, which is currently restricted in Oceania, will be available in East Asia for the same duration. Farfetch'd resembles a brown duck with a white underbelly. It has a yellow beak and a striking V-shaped black marking on its forehead. On the other hand, Kangaskhan is a huge bipedal creature with a formidable tail.

In related news, "Pokemon GO" raids continue to spark controversy because of the way they are implemented in the game. Aside from the EX Raids which is plagued by an invite defect, a new problem has come to light where players are not getting credit for accomplishing the legendary raids. Niantic has yet to release an update regarding this issue. Nevertheless, stay tuned for more reports as the situation unfolds.
