Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire update: Rayquaza, Mega Evolutions of Camerupt, Sharpedo, Gallade confirmed

Another legendary Pokémon and new Mega Evolutions will be presented in the remake of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Pokémon company recently confirmed in its website that Pokémon Rayquaza will join Groudon and Kyogre.  The announcement did not surprise many Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire fans, as Rayquaza is expected to play a very important role in the "weather" legendary Pokémon trio.

Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre will surely have the ability of "Primal Reversion," which will enable them to have special abilities or even an additional type. Primal Groudon will have the abilities of both Fire and Ground, and acquire Desolate Land and Precipice Blades abilities. Meanwhile, Primal Kyogre will still be a Water type Pokémon but will have abilities like Primordial Sea and Origin Pulse. Its special attack will also increase in its Primal mode.

Aside from a legendary Pokémon joining the game, the company also confirmed the Mega Evolutions of some of the regular Pokémons such as Camerupt, Sharpedo, and Gallade.

Mega Camerupt will have the ability Sheer Force, which increases its power but loses the additional effects of its attacks. The agility of the Pokémon is also decreased. Mega Sharpedo, on the other hand, will have the new ability called Strong Jaw, which strengthens its biting attacks. Moreover, its high base attack will further increase. Lastly, Mega Gallade will have the ability called Inner Focus, which prevents the Pokémon from flinching. Its speed and attack will also increase.

Previous reports stated that the Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby versions will be released on Nov. 21 exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS consoles. The game will head to North America, Japan, and Australia on the 21st and will be released in Europe on the 28th. The mega evolutions of some of the new characters may be launched in 2015.
