The free-to-play experiment "Pokémon Shuffle" gets its first Escalation event starting June 8.

In the "Pokémon" series of game titles, Escalation Battle events are special battles that were introduced with the update for version 1.2.2. Players who complete a stage will enter a more dangerous battle, and it becomes more challenging as the player progresses, much like the horde and wave attack stages prevalent in shooter games like "Destiny" and "Call of Duty." In the "Pokémon" universe, Escalation Battles pave the way for rare Pokémon to be captured, since the capture rate goes up as the level gets harder. In addition, rare items and rewards are also given to successful players.

For the first Escalation Battle event in "Pokémon Shuffle," players will have to battle Giratina. Every cleared stage will pave the way for more difficult stages for Pokémon and their trainers, and disruptions will also be introduced, as well as specific rewards. For example, in Stage Level 5, players will have the chance to get 1,000 Coins when they clear the stage; in Level 10, there will be an additional Disruption Delay reward.

Since players have to battle Giratina, the Pokémon will also be the one that can be captured for this event, and players will have an easier time capturing Giratina as the level progresses, since a higher capture rate depends on the stage that the player is currently at.

The Escalation Battle event will start from June 8 and will last up to June 22. It has been confirmed that there will be at least 198 main stages, and Pokémon Conkeldurr, Doublade, and Garbodor will also be made available.

Aside from the main stages, there will also be three separate expert stages for the battle, with a fully-evolved Kalos as a starter Pokémon. The expert stages will introduce Chesnaught at EX 22, Delphox at EX 23, and Greninja at EX 24.
