'Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon' releasing this winter

Developer Spike Chunsoft and Nintendo have already confirmed that a new "Pokémon" title will be coming out before the end of the year. As part of Nintendo's appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, fans were treated to more details about the upcoming "Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon" title.

According to Nintendo's page for this year's E3, the upcoming game for the Nintendo 3DS is much like any other "Pokémon" game. However, instead of the player being the trainer, gamers will transform into Pokémon, conquering dungeons and areas in the Pokémon world together with another partner Pokémon. Another difference is that the game offers almost limitless hours of gameplay. Each dungeon in the game is randomly generated, and players can explore the same area and dungeon over and over again without encountering the same Pokémon. Items and rewards also randomly spawn, giving players many chances to pick up items for their inventory and collect rare and exotic rewards.

In the game, mystery dungeons start appearing all over the world, with different Pokémon, items, and rewards waiting inside them. However, there is also a pandemic that infects all Pokémon, turning both normal, rare, and even legendary ones into stone.

To solve the mystery of both the dungeons and the illness, players need to battle together with their partner Pokémon, building friendship and camaraderie along the way. Aside from their partner, players can also use the mythical and legendary Pokémon that they encounter in the game. All in all, players can have as much as 20 Pokémon teaming up as dungeon explorers, and can discover up to 720 Pokémon in all the dungeons.

The "Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon" game for the Nintendo 3DS handheld system will be made available this winter in North America and early next year in Europe.
