To everyone who was born in the 90s and the early 2000s, it is safe to say that Pokemon was a huge part of life growing up. It was something that kids (even adults) looked forward to every waking day. And up until now, the beloved Japanese pocket monster series still has a growing and solid following and shows no sign of slowing down whatsoever.

In an announcement that coincided with Pokemon Day, the Pokemon company treated fans with a surprise trailer drop of the new "Pokemon" movie in the series' franchise reboot titled "Pokemon the Movie: Everyone's Story."

Revealed alongside the announcement, the tandem of Ash and Pikachu will be joined by new characters and a new story that follows the first film reboot in the franchise, "I Choose You."

The preview trailer does not give away much of the new movie's story, but it contains enough material to say that the film will center on legendary pokemon Lugia and will take place inside the Johto region.

According to reports, Lugia will be playing an integral role in the film, but no specifics have been revealed yet.

As released, the new movie will follow the adventures of Ash and Pikachu inside Fuura City -- a city that was granted legendary Pokemon Lugia's blessing of the wind. There, Ash will be introduced to various new characters -- Risa, Kagachi, Torito, Hisui, and Rarugo.

The new movie is scheduled to drop in Japan on July 13. It was produced by WIT Studio, the same studio that created "Attack on Titan," in partnership with Oriental Light and Magic.

Although the Pokemon Company has set a movie launch date in Japan, it has yet to issue a worldwide release date for the movie.

"I Choose You," the first movie in the franchise was released in 2017 and was intended to restart the pocket monsters film series. Although at first, it came a surprise to fans. The film ultimately received positive feedback from critics for its excellent retelling of Ash and Pikachu's first meeting and adventure as partners.
