The long-awaited reunion between Ash Ketchum and his travelling buddies, Misty and Brock from the original "Pokemon" anime will finally take place during the show's upcoming episodes.

The reunion will happen on the Nov. 25 episode of the current Pokemon animated series, "Pokemon the Series: Sun and Moon." The episode will take Ash and his current travelling companions back to Ash's home region of Kanto, where a number of heartfelt reunions are expected to take place.

The most anticipated of these is Ash being reunited with former Gym Leaders Brock and Misty, with whom he spent a long time with during the earlier days of the franchise. The two have not appeared in the animated series in a long time. Misty's last appearance was way back in 2005, while Brock stayed with Ash for a while longer until 2011.

The appearance of the two trainers will also give viewers a chance to see how stronger they and their Pokemon have grown since leaving Ash's team. Misty's water-based Pokemon and Brock's rock based team will surely show off some of the things they have learned in the past several years.

The new episodes will also show Ash meeting his loving mother again, as well as Pallet Town's resident Pokemon authority, Professor Oak. Ash being back in his hometown of Pallet Town also means that he will get to see some of his classic Pokemon that are currently staying with the professor.

Older Pokemon viewers will surely feel a rush of nostalgia when Ash reunites with some of his first generation Pokemon friends, like Muk, Snorlax, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur.

The episodes have already aired in Japan, and are now making their way to the U.S. Since there are just so many gatherings that need to be featured as Ash returns to his home region, the trip back to Kanto will be comprised of a two-episode special. The first episode, titled "Alola, Kanto," will air on Saturday, while the second part, "When Regions Collide," will air on Dec. 2.
