Disney XD will officially debut the "Pokemon the Series: Sun & Moon" animated series in the U.S. in May.

The Pokemon Company announced on its website that Ash and his friends will continue their adventures in the Alola region through the sixth "Pokemon" anime series that first premiered in Japan in November 2016.

According to the press release, Ash and friends Lillie, Lana, Sophocles, Kiawe, and Mallow as well as their trusted Pokemon will find a lot of new and exciting Pokemon and meet a lot of interesting people as he pursues his dreams to become a Pokemon Master. However, the group must be prepared to face the members of Team Rocket like Jessie and James who are bent on stopping them from their goals.

"More new faces will help guide Ash's latest journeys—but frequent foes Team Rocket have also made the trip to Alola, looking to swipe some high-powered new Pokémon. They'll have competition from the ruffians of Team Skull, who delight in causing chaos and may have more sinister intentions," the press release also stated.

A report also mentioned that that the new "Pokemon" anime will feature a major change in the style and tone of the fan-favorite animated series compared to its past installments. This time, the "Pokemon the Series: Sun and Moon" will have a lighter, funnier tone than the previous seasons.

Reports also revealed that the first two episodes of the "Pokemon the Series: Sun & Moon" animated series will be aired on Friday, May 12, at 9 p.m. EDT. It will be followed by the third episode on its regular season run on the network that is scheduled on Saturday, May 13, at 9 a.m. EDT.

Meanwhile, Disney XD will also air the special presentation of "Pokemon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel" on Saturday, May 13 at 5 p.m. EDT.
