'Poldark' season 2 spoilers: BBC releases first trailer

BBC

The BBC has released the first trailer for "Poldark" season 2, showcasing that there will be a lot of tension between Ross Poldark (Aiden Turner), his wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) and his ex-wife Elizabeth (Heidi Reid). As reported by The Week, it also showcases Ross dealing with the aftermath of the season 1 finale.

During the season 1 finale, George Warleggan's (Jack Farthing) ship was wrecked and Ross, along with his starving group of miners, descended upon the ship to take its food and cargo while also rescuing the survivors. However, George's cousin died during the incident. For this he was arrested for wrecking and murder.

The season 2 trailer starts with a voice over calling Ross as a known revolutionary who was suspected of murder and wed to his scullery maid. Clips in the trailer showcase Ross being carried away by the authorities and then later in court as he faces his charges.

Other clips in the trailer showcase Ross with the two women in his life. While there are numerous scenes with him spending time with his wife Demelza there are also abundant hints of him having sexual relations with Elizabeth, teasing a strong love triangle amongst the three characters in season 2.

Elizabeth addresses this in the trailer as she asks "Cannot a woman love two men? Cannot a man love two women?"

As reported by the Daily Mail, the trailer also showcases Ross once again with his shirt on as he works in one of the mines. It was previously stated by writer Debbie Horsfield that the cold Autumn season would make it unreasonable for actor Aiden Turner to film scenes with his shirt off but the trailer clearly showcases him topless.

The report also confirms that even though season 2 has yet to premiere the studios have already green lit a third season and that they will begin production soon.

"Poldark" season 2 premieres this Sept. 4.
