The parents of missing four-year-old Madeleine McCann will meet Portuguese police on Thursday after authorities received partial results of evidence tested in Britain, police said.

Madeleine vanished on May 3 from her bedroom in the Praia da Luz resort in the Algarve and the new evidence, which was found by sniffer dogs in the holiday apartment, could shed more light on the case.

"I can confirm that we have received part of the results and the team is satisfied (with the results)," said Portuguese police spokesman Olegario de Sousa.

He said there have been regular informal meetings with Kate and Gerry McCann together since Madeleine disappeared more than four months ago. The couple have remained in Praia da Luz throughout.

The evidence was sent to the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham last month and reportedly included a sample of a speck of blood found on the wall of the McCann's holiday apartment.

A Briton living in Praia da Luz has been identified by police as the only suspect in the investigation and his house has been searched twice.

Madeleine's parents have campaigned relentlessly to draw attention to the disappearance. British business tycoons and celebrities ranging from Harry Potter author JK Rowling to soccer stars have contributed to a reward for her return.
