Police charge woman with attempted murder of Labour faith minister
Police have charged a woman with the attempted murder of Labour Vice Chair for Faith Groups Stephen Timms.
Mr Timms was stabbed twice in the stomach by unemployed Roshonara Choudhary, 21, during a surgery in his constituency of East Ham, East London, on Friday.
He is said to be recovering well at Royal London Hospital, central London, having undergone surgery.
According to the Press Association, a hospital spokeswoman said Mr Timms would be discharged in the next few days to recuperate at homes.
Choudhary is to appear before Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, charged with attempted murder and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.
Prime Minister David Cameron and acting Labour leader Harriet Harman have sent their best wishes to Mr Timms, former Secretary to the Treasury, as he recovers.
