Back in 2015 Porsche unveiled the Porsche Mission E concept car, which is being designed to go up against the electronic and hybrid vehicles being released by Tesla. However, a report from BGR states that the car won't be out on roads until 2020.

"With Mission E, we are making a clear statement about the future of the brand," explained Porsche chairman Wolfgang Porsche. "Even in a greatly changing motoring world, Porsche will maintain its front-row position with this fascinating sports car."

As fans eagerly await the Mission E the company is set to launch a hybrid version of the popular Porsche 911 by 2018. It is undetermined if the Mission E will officially replace the Porsche 911 or if they will be released side-by-side to cater to different markets.

The Porsche Mission E hybrid car is said to boast 600 horsepower, sports-car quality acceleration and with just a single charge it will be able to last 310 miles. Even more ambitious is the re-charge time which Porsche aims to cut down to just 15 minutes. In comparison, most hybrid cars need 40 minutes to charge up to 60 percent and an additional three hours to complete the cycle.

Interiors are being designed for optimal comfort and functionality. The dashboard will feature a large touch screen, smart phone integration, WiFi, 4G connections, Bluetooth and USB ports. It is also speculated that the interiors will come with state of the art airbags and security systems that are still being developed at the time of writing.

Porsche has yet to reveal how much the Misison E will eventually cost but it is rumored to cost just as much as the Tesla Model S. The current model of the Tesla Model S can cost up to $72,000 and it is likely that the Mission E will either match this price or be a little bit more expensive as it may come with even more features and power.
