In the upcoming premiere of the final season of "Portlandia," multiple beloved characters played by lead actors Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, make their return in the award-winning sketch comedy show.

The trailer for the first installment, which has yet to be titled, was just released recently, and it shows Candace (Armisen) holding up a newspaper with one of the headlines saying, "Planned Parenthood Under Attack."

Toni (Brownstein) is shocked by this recent development and says to Candace, "Now I'm angry." She says she is furious but her facial expression leaves much to be desired.

Candace then asks her, "I'm fuming. What are the rules about opening up a clinic of your own like a women's health clinic?"

Toni says that they need to have a medical degree which they don't have. However, Candace tells her confidently, "We'll learn it."

The proprietors of their feminist bookstore called Women and Women First do not appear to have any idea of what it takes to start a medical clinic. It is interesting to note though that they were once high-powered executives in the publishing world.

In another sketch, Spyke (Armisen) realizes that he wants to get his old rock band back together. "I think it's time for the reawakening of Riotspray. You know. Think about it. I refuse!" he says to Iris (Brownstein). It remains to be seen if his plan will actually come to fruition.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Armisen shared about this season being the last one. "We believe in a beginning, middle and ending. We're such music fans. When bands say, 'This is our last album,' there's a sense of control. The show didn't get away from us. We wanted to go out while we still appreciated it."

"Portlandia" season 8 episode 1 will hit the airwaves on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 10 p.m. EST on the IFC channel.
