The Powerpuff GirlsCartoon Network

The upcoming reboot series of the "Powerpuff Girls" will officially launch on television on Monday, April 4. It will show back-to-back episodes during its premiere, starting at 6 p.m. ET. Episodes will then be released every weeknight through April 15 before the series settles into its official Thursday night schedule by April 21.

According to a report from Deadline, the new reboot will be shown this Monday, March 14, at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, marking its official world premiere. It will then premiere in select areas around the globe, particularly in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

It is undetermined at this point how long the initial season for the show will be or how many seasons have already been green-lit by Cartoon Network. The original series managed to run for a total of 78 episodes, winning two Emmy Awards and gaining five nominations as well as a Warner Bros.-produced feature film that was released in 2002.

Just like the original series that ran from 1998 to 2005, the "Powerpuff Girls" reboot will tackle the adventures of Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles as they save Townsville from evil villains, aided by the Mayor of Townsville and their surrogate father and creator, Professor Utonium.

However, the show will not be overseen by original series creator Craig McCracken, although according to a report from Screen Rant, he has given his blessing for the new show. It is speculated that some of the new ideas that will be implemented come directly from McCraken. In his place will be "Spongebob Squarepants" and "Adventure Time" veterans Nick Jennings and Bob Boyle.

The voice actors for the three main leads have also been replaced, with Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li, and Natalie Palamides now taking over. Roger L. Jackson will return to voice the villain Mojo Jojo and Jennifer Hale, one of the original voice actors for the girls, will return to voice at least two characters on the show but not any of the Powerpuff Girls.
