After Annville, TX was wiped out due to the explosion of the methane reactor of the town's meat processing plant at the end of season 1, fans are already curious about what's next for Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) in "Preacher" season 2.

Jesse survived the explosion together with his girlfriend Tulip O'Hare (Ruth Negga) and his vampire best friend Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), and they will be on their way to find God when the series returns to AMC next season.

"In the first season we really wanted to establish Jesse's relationship to God and lack thereof," series co-creator Sam Catlin told Deadline to tease about what will be in store for season 2. "He is disillusioned and losing his congregation from the beginning. We needed to put Jesse's journey into context, and his mission for next season."

In an interview with AMC, the series co-creator also teased that the unspoken love triangle between the three characters could be explored in season 2.

"Cassidy's in love with Tulip, but he's also Jesse's best mate. We haven't seen it yet but we've heard from Tulip that Jesse's a very jealous guy," Catlin shared. "It's the bomb underneath the table, for sure. Sooner or later, that secret's going to get out, and it's going to cause real problems for all three of them."

The report also mentioned that The Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) will return for "Preacher" season 2 to hunt Jesse down after he escaped from hell. But he will not be Jesse's only problem for the upcoming season.

According to Catlin, "the figure in white" will play a very important role in season 2, and fans of the comic book series already know who that person is.

The said "figure in white" first appeared briefly during the third episode of the series, when Danni (Julie Dretzin) came across him in a dark theater. Those who have read the DC Comics' version of the story know that the said character's name is Herr Starr.

The 13-episode second season of "Preacher" will premiere on AMC sometime in 2017.
