Did Kate Middleton drop a hint that she will give birth to a baby girl next year? This seems to be the case because during the couple's recent trip to the U.S., the wager that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will have a daughter in April 2015 increased significantly.

People also put money on the speculation that Prince George's future sibling will be named Charlotte. However, no official confirmation has been made by the British royalties as well as their reps.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge ended their three-day U.S. trip by attending a gala at the Met to commemorate the 600th founding anniversary of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where the royals first met.

The 32-year-old duchess was seen wearing a free-flowing off-shoulder greenish-blue dress designed by Jenny Packham, which she had already worn in an earlier event. She also wore a pair of dangling diamond and emerald earrings that was given to her as a gift. Her date, husband Prince William, also looked dapper during the event, and wore a black tuxedo. The gala at the Met served as a fundraiser for the university where the royal couple first fell in love.

Other attendees during Tuesday night's formal gala include French bank executive Olivier Sarkozy and his girlfriend, actress Mary-Kate Olsen, fashion editor Anna Wintour, as well as Seth Meyers.

Earlier, the royal couple dropped by the September 11 Memorial and Museum to offer a bouquet for the fallen victims of the terror attack back in 2001. The British royalties braved the strong New York drizzle to show their respect to the 2,900 people who died during the fateful event.

Aside from their activities in New York, Prince William also went to Washington D.C. to meet with U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama on Monday and gave a talk during one of the conferences at the World Bank.

They also met with former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, her daughter Chelsea and son-in-law Marc Mezvinsky at the reception hosted by the British consul general, and watched an NBA game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets at the Barclay Center.

The royals are expected to go back to the U.K. on Wednesday.
