Premier Celebrating 10 Years of Christian Radio

Premier Radio has reached its tenth year of broadcasting. Over the past decade, communication has advanced and Premier Christian Radio is now being heard by over 400,000 people around the world.

Marking the tenth anniversary, Premier Radio are looking back at the success of the last ten years and is anticipating the future of Christian broadcasting.

"Ten years on we’re still working toward the same goal, to provide the public with an opportunity to hear the Gospel, provide Christian teachings and bring a Christian perspective to the news," said David Heron, Chairman of Premier Radio.

Offering a Christian viewpoint on current affairs is considered essential. "I remember, when travelling across London as the news of 9/11 broke, turning to Premier for a specifically Christian perspective. At a time of personal vulnerability, I felt powerfully drawn into the Christian family as we took in the news together," said Joel Edwards of the Evangelical Alliance.

A community of devoted listeners tune in to Premier everyday. Compared to other UK stations, Premier is in the frontline with listeners tuning in for the longest time.

The station and audience interact together as Premier Lifeline telephone helpline takes over 1000 calls per week. Its 500,000th call was taken just before the 10th birthday.

"One of the greatest things that Premier can do is to break down barriers between Christians and build bridges inside and outside the Church," said Premier presenter Cindy Kent. She believes that the diversity of the station keeps the programming fresh and relevant.

"I’m very committed to this – where else can you hear the voices of Baptists, Methodists, Anglicans, Catholics and everyone else? So on my show, we’ll look at a topic and hear both a Pentecostal and a Catholic view, for instance. We can perhaps take off some of the blinkers and see what unites us."
