Premier Radio hunts for junior journalist

Premier Christian Radio is calling all budding John Humphries or Sarah Montagues to put themselves forward as the host of a new children's current affairs slot.

The radio station is looking for a talented child under the age of 12 to offer a 'kids' eye view' on current affairs during the summer holidays in August.

"The ideal candidate will have an interest in the news of the day and the natural curiosity which helps to make a good interviewer,” says Premier’s CEO, Peter Kerridge.

“They’ll have a say in programme planning and the choice of potential interview subjects and while some of their content will be recorded, much of it will be live on air so a cool head will be a key requirement.”

The junior journalist will be on air during the breakfast show and based at the station's London studios.

“It’ll be a challenge but also a lot of fun,” said Mr Kerridge. “And, who knows, it could possibly be the beginnings of a longer term career in broadcasting.”

Budding broadcasters should e-mail Premier at youngpresenters@premier.org.uk with no more than 100 words on why they’d like to be a young radio presenter, together with a few details of their hobbies and pass-times. Closing date 29 June.
