Premier Radio Receives 500,000th Call as 10th Anniversary Approaches

Premier Radio will soon be celebrating its 10th Anniversary in June, and appropriately the station has started celebrations early as their initiative - Premier Lifeline - a leading Christian helpline designed to offer support and prayer to all denominations in the United Kingdom, has reached the milestone of receiving its 500,000th call.

With the slogan "If you need to talk, Lifeline is listening", Premier lifeline is open to everyone who needs Christian counselling. Through both the telephone line and the website, the public are invited to share their personal, moral, spiritual or emotional problems. The presenters, Jonathan Clark and Fiona Castle then discuss their answers to the questions from a Biblical perspective.

The public can also send prayer requests to a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who pray regularly for the needs of others. In the website, a list of five of the most common questions asked of Lifeline was compiled and have been presented together with responses from a trained counsellor.

Jonathan Clark, Social Worker and Head of Premier Lifeline, spoke of their work in a press release obtained by Assist News Service, "Lifeline is a listening ear to people who have called to share a problem. We’re able to point callers in the direction of a suitable counselling service if they require it or just give them a chance to talk through an issue."

Clark continued, "The majority of calls to Premier Lifeline are on issues surrounding loneliness, relationships, marriage and prayer. The range of calls we receive is astounding, from people questioning a Bible quote to those suffering from grief."

The 500,000th call received by Lifeline was from a Christian woman, upon hearing she had been diagnosed with cancer called Lifeline to pray together for a sense of peace.

The anonymous Lifeline staff member who took the 500,000th call said in the press release, "I felt privileged to take the call and pray with such a strong, brave woman. As our half a millionth call, it reminded me why the staff here devote our time to Lifeline. All our calls are important and I believe we are truly making a difference by providing this service for any person, Christian or otherwise that needs to call on us."

Premier Lifeline is part of the Christian Helplines Association, it opens daily from 9am to midnight to receives calls for prayer and advice on a variety of subjects. The Radio program Lifeline Live is broadcast every weekday on Premier Christian Radio on (1305, 1332, 1413 AM) Freeview, ntl and the Internet.
