The highly anticipated season 4 premiere of Pretty Little Liars on June 11 had reached the highest ratings in the show's history.

2.97 million viewers tuned in to ABC Family on Tuesday for the season premiere, according to Entertainment Weekly. This figure is an increase from the 2.93 million fans that tuned in for the season 3 premiere. The show is ranked as the number one scripted cable drama. The season opener also won in terms of social media, and nearly 1.3 million tweets were shared by fans this week.

Fans will be expected to see a bit of romance in this season's drama, according to executive producer Olivier Goldstick.

All the Liars are expected to get new love interests in the new season, Goldstick told Entertainment Weekly. "All four girls have a person somewhere on the horizon," he said, adding that many of those romantic interests "don't surface maybe till we're deep in [season] 4A, sometimes earlier than that. For Emily, for Spencer, for Hannah — there is competition for their affection coming up."

A sneak peek clip of episode 2, which will air June 18, begins with Paige and Emily looking at their virtual Stamford bedroom on the computer. Paige jokingly knocks Emily on the arm, but she winces in pain saying that she slept funny. She goes on to say that she may not be able to swim the next day.
