'Prison Break' reboot underway?

FOX is said to be working on a "Prison Break" reboot. The network reportedly plans to bring back the action-packed jail serial drama for a limited run, just like what they did last year with "24: Live Another Day" and the soon-to-be released "The X-Files" reboot that will be aired later this year.

The possibility of having a new "Prison Break" has been floating for a while, but a source confirmed to E! News that FOX is actually working on the show's revival, six years after it last aired in 2009. The source also mentioned that the two male lead stars, Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller, will both return to the series to reprise their roles as Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield, respectively.

It was actually Miller's idea to bring back "Prison Break" to the small screen, and the FOX bosses seemed to like it.

"We actually floated the idea to Fox very casually and they seemed very not casual about this interest. They seemed to think there was something there," Miller told the media during the 2015 Winter TCA Press Tour early this year.

Purcell also reiterated FOX's enthusiasm for the project, saying that the bosses seemed to be excited about it when they mentioned the idea to them.

Although there is no official announcement regarding the details of the upcoming "Prison Break" reboot, Deadline speculates that the limited series would focus on a new elaborate prison break to be staged by the brothers. This time, however, Lincoln and Michael might trade places. There are also rumors stating that the brothers will be joined by another lead character.

Currently, Purcell and Miller are both working on The CW's soon-to-be released superhero series titled "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," which is why it will not be hard for them to work out a filming schedule for the "Prison Break" reboot.

More details about the show's return are expected to be announced soon.
