'Prison Break' season 5 spoilers: creator Paul Scheuring announces new character

Michael Scofield is alive!FOX

"Prison Break" creator Paul Scheuring announced that a new character will arrive in the TV series when it comes back in early 2017. It will still be the same actor; they just decided to change his name.

It was previously announced that Sara's (Sarah Wayne Callies) new husband will be using the name Scott Ness and will be played by Mike Feuerstein. Scheuring made the announcement via Instagram (pscheuring), where the photo shows the same actor but with a new name, Jacob. He said. "The noble Jacob on set today. Too bad his middle name is Toast. (It's actually Anton.)."

It was also shared via the show's official Twitter account, @PBWritersRoom, where it is said, "Everybody's favorite new character, Jacob (formerly known as Scott)."

Principal photography officially ended last July 12 and is now in the post-production stage. Three editors are currently working at the same time, which will make things faster.

Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller and Callies are not the only returning cast members. Robert Knepper will be back as T-Bag, Amaury Nolasco as Sucre, Rockmond Dunbar as C-Note and Paul Adelstein as Congressman Paul Kellerman. Sara and T-Bag are believed to be assisting Lincoln in bringing Michael out of the Moroccan hellhole, which is the plot for the upcoming season.

Ever since the writers mentioned that "there will be death" in the upcoming season, fans can't stop speculating on who this character will be. Some suggest that Sara will be the one, which will make for a dramatic ending and will help launch the show to a brand-new season. Others think that it will be Michael, Miller's character, who will truly die this time around, while still others point to Jacob. When Jacob is gone, Michael and Sara will be free to go back to their old relationship and be a simple and happy family, and be with their son.

"Prison Break" season 5 is slated to premiere on FOX in spring 2017 but no exact date has been decided yet.  The show will have a total of nine episodes and a season six will depend on the success of the upcoming season.
