'Project X Zone 2' sequel for 3DS release date this fall

Bandai Namco Europe

With the release of the trailer for the Japanese production of the "Project X Zone 2: Brave New World" title, big name publisher Bandai Namco also announced that the game will be available in the West.

To be titled only as "Project X Zone 2," the game will be made available for 3DS players in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australasia this coming fall. The game is to be developed by Monolith Soft and will be published by Bandai Namco in partnership with Sega and Capcom.

The tactical role playing game's sequel is a follow-up to the hugely popular first title, "Project X Zone," and is a cross-over of popular characters from a score of other games, which was released in 2012.

In the sequel, the same playable characters from different series such as "Resident Evil," "Soul Calibur," and others will also be available. For example, playable in the sequel are familiar faces like Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Leon Kennedy; Mega Man X and Zero from "Megaman X"; Jin and Kazuya from the "Tekken" series; and Kage and Akira from "Virtua Fighter." Other characters from ".hack," "Sakura Wars," "Strider," "Shinobi," and "Tales of Vesperia" will also be made available.

Aside from the new characters, there will also be improved gameplay in the pair and single character modes, more in-game features, and addition of new subtitle languages like French, Italian, and German.

According to Bandai Namco's Herve Hoerdt, "Working hand-in-hand with renowned publishers such as SEGA and CAPCOM is a blessing. Exchanging ideas and working towards making fans happy is the ultimate goal behind this cross-over."

Hoerdt adds, "With dozens of famous characters and licenses, unique humour traits and highly tactical gameplay; 'Project X Zone 2' presents itself as a serious contender to be a critically appreciated tactical RPG."
