With the fans hyped up for the next iteration of the PlayStation, a French Gaming distributor, Innelec Multimedia, has reportedly suggested that the newest PlayStation is known as the Neo and that it will be released in September. This is a month before the launch of the PlayStation VR.

Innelec Multimedia, according to Video Gamer, has released the statement in their fiscal year report. Their fiscal year is from April 2016 to March 2017, and the report notes the release dates for the PlayStation VR and PlayStation Neo along with their projected earnings. These projections were before October 2016, so it can be safely assumed that the PS4.5 will be released first. Parts of the report can be seen on the French website Boursier, since the report doesn't seem to be on Innelec's official website anymore.

However, once the reports gained online traction, Innelec wasted no time and released a statement on another French website, Agence Francaise, stating that they know nothing about the PlayStation Neo. This statement was aimed to correct these rumors. Translated, one part of the statement reads:

"Innelec denies any official information about the launch of a PS4K Neo. It is possible that during the 2016/2017 fiscal developments exist on the current PS4 [but] for the moment we have no information about the nature of them."

In any case, Sony is still keeping quiet through all this, so players are still waiting for an official announcement to be made. No one could actually say for sure that this console is being worked on or if it will be ever released. One reason for this is that, after all, the PlayStation 4 is still a robust machine. On the other hand, several rumors also speculate that if ever the PS NEO will be released, it will boast an improved overall performance because of hardware upgrades.
