Both the Playstation 4 Neo and the Xbox One Scorpio are launching in the following months, both coming from the need to support VR gaming and 4K televisions. Both are upgraded and more powerful units than the original PS4 and Xbox One, and iTech Post has done an in-depth comparison of their specs and features.

In terms of their processors, both will be running on an 8-core processor; however, the exact clock speed of the Xbox One Scorpio's processor has yet to be announced. The PS4 Neo's processor clocks in at a total speed of 2.1 GHz and its processor has been confirmed to be developed by AMD.

Graphics memory is far more important in order to make the consoles powerful enough for VR and 4K gaming. According to Trusted Reviews, this is one section where the Xbox One Scorpio has an advantage.

Both will sport 8GB of graphics memory but the Xbox One Scorpio will sport a 320 GB/s memory bandwidth compared to the 218 GB/s memory bandwidth of the PS4 Neo. In terms of PC graphics cards the report states that gives the Xbox One Scorpio the same bandwidth and abilities as the Nvidia GTX 1080 and its GDDR5X memory.

It is further stated that the two consoles will have a gap in terms of their total TFLOPS aka (floating point operations per second). The PS4 Neo's GPU will have a total TFLOPS counting up to 4.14 while the Xbox One Scorpio will be capable of 6 TFLOPS. This is the same difference between the Nvidia GTX 1070 and the GTX 970.

The official release date for either console is still a mystery, although a report from Tech Times reveals that Sony might be unveiling the PS4 Neo this coming September before launching it to the public in late September or early October. The Xbox One Scorpio is rumored to launch by the holidays or early 2017.
