The PlayStation 4 (PS4) will be receiving an "unprecedented rush" of big games in 2016, according to Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida.

In an interview with 4Gamer and as reported on by DualShockers, Yoshida intimated that 2016 would be a big year for the console not solely because of the new games that will be released for it, but also because of the upcoming debut of the PlayStation VR.

Yoshida added that 2016 will be the time when people will truly appreciate having a PS4, and he urged players to look forward to the new year.

It's obviously too early to say whether or not Yoshida's proclamations will turn out to be prophetic but at the outset of the year, things certainly look promising.

There are definitely more than a few PlayStation 4 console exclusives that people can look forward to in 2016, and they offer their own unique playing experiences.

Some of the games coming to the PS4 include the eagerly anticipated fighting game "Street Fighter V," which will be released in February 2016.

Also coming to PS4 in 2016 is the action adventure epic known as "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End." The latest installment of the "Uncharted" franchise will be coming to PS4 on March 18, 2016.

PS4 owners who want a new racing game can also look forward to "Gran Turismo Sport," and for those seeking a more unique take on the role-playing (RPG) genre, "The Last Guardian" is also set to make its debut in 2016, according to GameSpot.

Aside from the console exclusive titles coming to the PS4, there will also be third party games that fans can look forward to. The year 2016 may even see "Final Fantasy 15" finally becoming available.

The new year could indeed be a banner year for the PS4, but with 12 months to go and unknown variables always present, Sony can only hope that things go according to plan.
