Now that the post-release dust has settled for "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" ("PUBG"), competition is a lot more refined as the game inches its way closer to an esports viability.

With this in mind, some players may want to up their game and start thinking about how to increase their ranking by scoring the elusive and coveted "Chicken Dinner," which is a slang for victory, or at the very least, frequently placing in the top 10 each match. This is easier said than done since "PUBG" is a battle royale game in which 100 players have to compete with one another only for one to come out on top (for solo mode). Lots of things can go wrong as 100 players try to outsmart, out-skill and out-luck one another. Luckily, this guide should ensure longer survival duration.

A disclaimer is in order though, survival in "PUBG" does not necessarily mean lots of kills, so players must set their expectations and goals accordingly, since looking for fights or kills will most likely have them killed as well, more so than having a goal to survive and claim the Chicken Dinner. With this in mind, players will have to make a choice on where to paradrop in the map — large towns with lots of houses can guarantee a strong start due to more loot, but other players will be thinking of this as well.

This is why it is arguably better to find a lone and secluded spot in the map away from most players where one can loot in peace. This means dropping in a more barren region or smaller groups of houses. This may not always guarantee competent weapons such as assault rifles, but at least there will be no one else to hunt down the player.

Another key thing is to monitor the flight path of the plane, players should draw an imaginary line in the map where the plane travels, as this will be where most players are. Doing so will let players determine which areas are dangerous or safe, and where to best position oneself in the safe zone of the map where encounters are less likely to happen.

As for the white circle or safe zone, as it gets smaller, it is best to stay near the circumference since staying in the middle or far inside will likely result in one having to face enemies from multiple directions instead of just in the front.

Finally, having good loot does not mean engagements are necessary. If anything, players should conserve themselves and their ammunition until the top 10 and stay quiet, letting the rest of the players kill one another. Players must remember not to shoot unless a kill is guaranteed since gunfire will likely reveal one's position, even if the gun is suppressed.

Doing these should guarantee at least a spot in the final top 10 out of 100 players. As for the Chicken Dinner, a combination of luck, skill and smarts will have to be utilized.
