Despite the recent showcase of "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds'" (PUBG) new desert map with new weapons and vehicles, there is more new content that players can expect. Future patches may include cosmetic items due to an apparent popular demand for it.

As of right now, developers Bluehole are still focusing on the final launch of the new map. They did mention that they will keep adding more content to the game once that is done, and they reassured players that it will not be related to the controversial loot boxes.

"As you may already know, we will never add anything that affects the gameplay," said lead game designer Changhan Kim in a Q&A at G-Star Global Game Exhibition in Korea, as per PC Gamer. "However, there is a relatively strong demand for cosmetic items. Since the official launch is our top priority, we plan on adding new items after that."

As to what those cosmetic items are, nobody really knows what it is exactly. It may be like in other popular first-person shooter (FPS) games with golden guns and the sort. It could also be that players would be allowed to change the character's clothes more. Of course, there is no saying that both are mutually exclusive.

Kim also mentioned that there will be more weapons released in the future. He explains that when they release weapons, it must be able to complement deficiencies of other weapons. There is also the factor of personal preference when players choose a weapon. The K2, for example, which many Korean players want to have in the game, is still being discussed by the company.

Lastly, they are also very much considering the idea of adding a tutorial mode or a sort of shooting range to serve as practice for the new players. In fact, Kim said they would be coming up with a plan for it already after the release of the new desert map.
