Supergiant Games, the maker of "Transistor" and "Bastion," recently announced its newest title during this year's PAX East, courtesy of IGN. According to the report, the game is titled "Pyre" and is described as a party-based RPG sporting fast-paced, action-packed combat.

The game revolves around a group of exiles joining a secret tournament referred to as the "Rites." Winning the competition allows the exiles to return home, with all of their past transgressions absolved and forgotten. Journeying through the game will allow the player to meet each competitor and learn their story and what they may do with the honor of returning home.

Accompanying the announcement was a short teaser trailer that revealed the game's artstyle and a little of its gameplay, focusing more on the exploration sections instead of revealing how combat is played. There is a short snippet of combat although the clip does not dwell long enough on it for viewers to get a better sense of how it is executed.

Music for the game has been done by Supergiant Games' regular Darren Korb, and one new song is played throughout the trailer.

There are snippets in the trailer showing emphasis regarding a strange book which may serve as the main interface for customizing the characters, inventory management and more. The book may also be linked to the main plot as it is alluded to in the very beginning of the clip as something that only exiles are speculated to own.

Despite this, the game will be playable and will be presented in-depth during the Friday, April 22 presentation that Supergiant Games have announced for this PAX East event. It is speculated that this means the game may already be nearing its completion or may at least be far along in its development for it to already have a playable demo.

"Pyre" will release for both the PlayStation 4 and the PC sometime in 2017.
