"Quantico" just aired its midseason finale and the show went out with a bang, revealing Elias (Rick Cosnett) as one of the major players behind the Grand Central bombing. According to a report from Cartermatt, the show will return to deal with the aftermath of Elias's revelation but fans will have to wait until March 6, 2016.

According to the report, it is likely that this was scheduled to avoid high competition. There are a lot of shows continuing their midseason run starting January and February and it is possible "Quantico" is merely avoiding tight competition in order to keep a higher viewer rating.

It is also explained that other scripted drama shows might not be the only competition "Quantico" has to deal with. The first few months of 2016 also focus on the Academy Awards, the Grammy Awards and the NFL Super Bowl, all of which draw a lot of attention and could detract from "Quantico" viewership.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, show runner Josh Safran stated that when the series returns it will deal immediately with the aftermath of the revelation that Elias was behind the bombing. However, a lot of the upcoming episosde will also deal with the issue of truth, particularly whether or not Elias was telling the whole story.

"All I can say is that the discussion in the future timeline about whether Elias is telling the truth, whether Elias acted alone, forms a major portion of what's coming," he explained, "and I think on top of that, there is the idea of how Alex (Priyanka Chopra) and Simon (Tate Ellington), especially, handle what just happened."

He further explained that despite Elias falling to his death in the midseason finale the character's story will still play a part given that he is still alive in the "Quantico" timeline. However, Safran also stated that at the moment there are no plans of bringing the character back in the future.
