'Rainbow Six Siege' updates: Operation Black Ice DLC arrives

Rainbow Six Siege/Ubisoft Official

The first downloadable content (DLC) update for "Rainbow Six Siege" is expected to arrive Feb. 2, and fans of the Tom Clancy game are already excited about the DLC drop.

Called "Operation Black Ice," the downloadable content experienced delays in its release. It should have become available back in January, but now has been pushed to a February release.

The DLC update is expected to introduce two new operators who have "new weapons and unique gadgets" as stated in the official game site. It was previously reported that there were leaked images of the operatives.

Their identities have been revealed; one was named Frost and the other is Buck. A Reddit user also uploaded images of the two new characters and some of the details about them. Other than the new operatives, Operation Black Ice will also bring one new game map, new weapon skins and other upgrades to enhance gameplay.

Apart from the coming DLC, fans already know that more content will be expected from the game this year. Ubisoft made it clear that there will be DLC releases corresponding to the four seasons in a year. A total of eight operatives and four maps should be released by the end of this year. The developer will also offer "new cosmetic items" and "new game modes, events and/or activities" to "Rainbow Six Siege" this year.

Game maps and modes become readily available for free to all players. The new operators and most of the weapon skins can be unlocked using the in-game currency known as Renown.

There are more plans for the game to make it exciting for fans. The developer believes that the game will last long with its positive reception and with that, they want to provide a better experience as the game's fanbase continues to grow.
