Game developer Rare seems to be gearing up for a new project that will be announced during the Electronic Entertainment Expo next month, based on the tweet from creative directive Simon Woodroffe.

One NeoGAF user noticed a conversation between Woodroffe and a fan wherein the creative director of the British video game company confirmed that a new game created by studio director Gregg Mayles will be revealed at the upcoming E3 event.

According to Woodroffe's protected tweet that answers the question posted by Twitter user @leflus, "E3 will tell the world what Gregg Mayles new project is about."

Mayles is known for creating some of the most popular games from the studio, including "Conker," "Donkey Kong Country," as well as the "Banjo-Kazooie" series.

It has been awhile since the gaming community heard something from Rare. The company released the "Kinect Sports Rival" back in 2014. The British game developer was acquired by Microsoft in 2002, and it has been the first-party developer for the Xbox game consoles. But early this year, Rare's composer and sound designer Robin Beanland confirmed through his Twitter account that 2015 will be a great year for the game developing company.

Although Rare and Microsoft have yet to reveal what the big E3 announcement will be all about, several speculations claim that one of the company's old IPs will be given a reboot. Some are guessing that it will be a brand new "Battletoads" game, while others believe that the highly anticipated "Banjo" sequel titled "Banjo-Threeie" will be released.

The speculations about the "Battletoads" release were fueled when Xbox head Phil Spencer was seen wearing a "Battletoads" t-shirt during the Windows 10 Live Event late last year. On the other hand, the "Banjo-Kazooie" speculations started when the game was used in a tech demo just recently, and when Spencer himself suggested that the game's character named B-K could be used as a playable character in the "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U.

To know more about the game developer's plans, fans need to tune in to Rare's announcement during the E3 2015 event on June 16 to 18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
