'The Real Housewives of New York City' Luann de Lesseps apologizes after arrest
"The Real Housewives of New York City" star Luan de Lesseps apologized after her arrest in Palm Beach, Florida, blaming it on her recent divorce.
Hours after her release from Palm Beach County Jail, the 52-year-old reality star took to Twitter to apologize for her misconduct, stating, "I want to offer my most sincere apologies to anyone that I might have offended with my behavior," she said in the post, explaining that it was her first time in Palm Beach since her wedding with ex-husband Tom D'Agostino and it brought up "buried emotions."
De Lesseps also promised that she is "committed to a transformative and hopeful 2018."
According to Entertainment Tonight, the reality star was arrested early morning of Christmas Eve for disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest, and battery of a law enforcement officer. She was released on her own recognizance just before noon.
An Assistant State's Attorney told Palm Beach Post that de Lesseps slammed a door and kicked at least one police officer before telling them "I'm going to kill you all."
This being her first criminal offense, Judge Ted Booras allowed her to go back to New York City before she is due back in court on Jan. 25. Booras also advised her that four of her five charges were felonies, and she should hire a criminal attorney instead of ignoring them. "I don't think it would be that hard to find you," he said.
When de Lesseps told the judge that she might have a drinking problem, Booras warned her not to incriminate herself. "Don't say anything," the judge told de Lesseps.
The "Real Housewife" from the Big Apple was married to D'Agostino on New Year's Eve of 2016. Seven months later, de Lesseps announced their divorce, which was finalized in September.
Prior to D'Agostino, de Lesseps was married to Count Alexandre de Lesseps, with whom she shares two children, Noel and Victoria.
