Reassurance

"You parents - if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him."
Matthew 7:9 -11

Insurance companies tend to sell their policies on the basis that we will be buying peace of mind, reassurance that at the end of the day all will be well. But it isn't really like that. Ask anybody living in a house, which, due to flood risk, cannot be insured. Ask motorists who have had difficulty getting swift and fare settlements when their cars have been "written off" because repairs are deemed "uneconomic". Added to all that, no insurance company can prevent bad things from happening. Enter Father God! Not only is His care for us unconditional but also He's never closed for business, never faces a claim He cannot meet and is always a very present help in a time of trouble. God knows all about risk assessment. He made the assessment and paid the premium, in full, when He died upon the cross. That's true reassurance.
