Daniel (Alden Young) will try to adjust to new circumstances brought about by his release from captivity in the upcoming episode of Sundance TV's drama series "Rectify."

In episode 2 titled "Thrill Ride," the former detainee will be facing the joyful yet scary thought of a life after 19 years in prison. Fresh from his recent plea bargain for the rape and strangulation murder of his teenage girlfriend Hanna, Daniel is ready to move forward and pick up the tattered pieces of his life. Is this the start of good things to come?

While Daniel's future looks positive, it is now his sister Amantha's (Abigail Spencer) turn to face difficulties. TV Guide reports that she will be seen dealing with overwhelming personal and professional changes. Meanwhile, Teddy (Clayne Crawford) will seek to connect with his estranged wife Tawney (Adelaide Clemens).

In an interview with Variety, the show's creator Ray McKinnon discussed on what viewers could expect in season 3.

"It's a continuation of the series itself. Can a man who spent nearly 20 years in a box become a part of what we consider the normal world? I think that's the challenge for real life humans incarcerated for long periods of time, particularly under such strict conditions — can they acclimate?" he said.

The creator also added that the arrival of George Milton (Michael Traynor), a witness to Daniel's crime, would "complicate" matters.

Meanwhile, the question of whether or not Daniel killed his high school sweetheart remains up for debate. When asked why they were keeping the true facts on what happened 19 years ago a secret, McKinnon was vague with his explanation.

"Daniel's a damaged person. Whether he did what he's accused of doing 20 years ago or not, he's still a very damaged person," said the drama series creator. "Will he get help? Will he get better? Will he become a member of society?  And what does that mean? That's a fraught proposition unto itself," he added.

McKinnon also shared their plans to explore the other characters on the show, especially Daniel's immediate family. According to him, viewers would get to see more of Jared (Jake Austin Walker), Ted Sr. (Bruce McKinnon) and Janet (J. Smith-Cameron) in season 3. Ted and Tawney's complicated relationship would also be put on spotlight, with regard to their own personal journeys "separate and together."

"Rectify" airs Thursday at 10 p.m. on Sundance TV.
