'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date: Game to be revealed on Aug. 4?

The long-awaited announcement of "Red Dead Redemption 2" will reportedly take place on Aug. 4.

That is the date being pointed to by numerous rumors going around online. The Aug. 4 date is also significant because Microsoft is set to hold a press conference on the very same date, making it a potentially ideal platform to make an announcement as significant as the one related to "Red Dead Redemption 2," according to Venture Capital Post.

With Gamescom 2015 looming on the horizon, Microsoft is said to be looking at Aug. 4 as the perfect time to have the attention of the gaming world all to themselves. As of now, however, the release date is nothing more than a rumor as no official date has been confirmed as of yet.

Giving people more reason to believe that the official announcement of "Red Dead Redemption 2" is near is the fact that no word about the game was given during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event. Many are suggesting that the lack of news then was intentional, so as to make the official announcement more substantial.

Despite the relative lack of any official announcements regarding "Red Dead Redemption 2" to this point, many within the gaming industry are still confident that a sequel will be announced sooner rather than later.

According to Take Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, "Red Dead Redemption" is being viewed as a potential long-term franchise, according to Game Zone. Take Two, of course, was one of the companies heavily involved in the making of the first game. Zelnick also suggested that any delays would be because the people behind the sequel are still working to make sure the product they release is as good as it can be.

As for a supposed release date for "Red Dead Redemption 2," the rumors are also split regarding this subject. Some have suggested a release date as early as November 2015, while some are projecting the game to come out by October 2016.
