Fans of "Red Dead Redemption" were thrilled to see a flyer stating that the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Western-themed action-adventure game will finally come out in November, but new reports claimed that the flyer was nothing but a hoax.

According to a report from TechnoBuffalo, someone spotted an image of the flyer claiming that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be unveiled on Nov. 18 and posted it online. But it turned out that the flyer was fan-made, and it was part of a package that was sent to Rockstar Games for fun, as seen in a post on Imgur.

This is not the first time that a rumored leaked detail from "Red Dead Redemption 2" circulated online. A screenshot that was said to be taken from a concept art for the game's sequel was posted on Reddit early this year. However, some fans of game pointed out that it was taken from the website of a former Rockstar Games employee.

Still, fans are holding on to the statement made by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick during the Cowen and Company Analyst conference back in May 2014, where he said that the "Red Dead" franchise could release a new game in the future.

"It seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise," Zelnick said during the conference that was recently reported by PC Advisor. "The risk of just [releasing more games] is that you end up just bulking up your release schedule and that isn't really what consumers want. Consumers want better, not more," he continued.

Rockstar Games also promised that they have more plans for the future of the "Red Dead" franchise back in 2012, but fans are still waiting for a sequel announcement four years after the statement was made.

Since the final quarter of 2016 is fast approaching, it can be assumed that a "Red Dead Redemption 2" release might not happen anytime soon.
